Picking a Wedding Videographer

You’ve decided you want a wedding videographer. Now what? You know you want to make sure their taste lines up with yours, and that they have some experience under their belt. You also are wanting to make sure they will capture all the special moments on your wedding day. How do you decide who to go with to video graph your wedding? We have some pointers for you on how to decide on who you want to be your videographer.

Tip #1 Check out their website or Facebook page

Videographers that have experience will showcase some of that on their website. Here we will get to check out the features they offer, what their creative style is, and how long a typical video is. This is a great place to get started when trying to find your wedding videographer! You can find out the basic information of each potential videographer and decide whether you want to move forward with contacting them.

Tip #2 Ask Questions

Make sure you ask ALL your questions when trying to decide on who to use as your videographer! Some great questions to ask are:

  • How long are you there on our wedding day?

  • How many people do you have doing video?

  • What is the turnaround time?

  • How long will the video be?

  • What type of music will you use?

  • How will I receive my wedding video?

These are just a few questions that will get you started on understanding your wedding videographer.

Tip #3 Go Over What Shots are MUST HAVE

Typically, your wedding videographer is going to have quite a bit of experience in this area and knows exactly what shots are going to provide the best feel and look for your wedding video. It is always best practice to check in with them, and make sure you are both on the same page about expectations for video shots.

Must Have Shots

  • Wedding Speeches

  • Walking down the aisle

  • First Kiss

  • Exiting the wedding ceremony

  • Wedding reception dancing

The shots listed above are very normal for couples to request to their videographer. Most of the time your videographer has a plan to capture those shots already!

At the end of the day make sure you like your videographer! You don’t want to hire someone you don’t get along with that will be capturing your wedding day. Make sure to ask lots of questions to gather all the information you will need before making a final decision. It’s your day and you want it to be captured perfectly.
